The CMSS21 organizing committee has the great pleasure and honor of presenting and honoring two eminent Teacher-Researchers from the Faculty of Science of the Mohammed V University in Rabat and founding members of the ASMATEC Association. Professors Ali Boukhari and Lahcen El Ammari have contributed to the advancement of national and global research through highly appreciated work and dedication to scientific research, hard work and exemplary commitment. The 3rd edition of the CMSS is dedicated to the honor of professors Ali Boukhari and Lahcen EL Ammari.
After the initiation of his university studies at the Faculty of Science of Mohammed V University in Rabat, Ali Boukhari prepared his State Doctorate thesis of Science at the CNRS Solid Chemistry Laboratory, University of Bordeaux Iin France and was defended in 1980 under the theme: Phosphates and Vanadates. His academic responsibilities can be summarized as: -Professor of Higher Education, Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science Rabat (1980-2013), Associate Professor at University of Bordeaux I France (1986-1987), - Director of the Applied Solids Chemistry Laboratory, Faculty of Science Rabat (1990-2004), Head of the Training and Research Unit (UFR) Materials Sciences (Doctorate) Faculty of Science Rabat (1998-2010), -Vice Dean of the Faculty of Sciences, Mohammed V University in Rabat (1990-2003), - Dean of the Faculty of Sciences of Kénitra, Ibn Tofail University (2003-2013), - Corresponding Member then Resident Member of Hassan II Academy of Sciences and Techniques (AH2ST) (since 2006), - Member of the Council of AH2ST (since 2015), - Director of the College of Engineering, Technology Transfer and Innovation, AH2ST (2020),
The main research topics developed by Prof. Ali Boukhari are: - synthesis and characterization of Phosphates and Vanadates compounds, - Building materials, cements, oxides and silicate phases, refractory compounds, - Resolution and refinement of crystal structures from X-ray diffraction data, - Crystallochemistry, materials, synthesis, characterization, properties, - Physical and chemical sciences, - Engineering, transfer and technological innovation. He has more than 125 publications in specialized international indexed journals, several communications in national and international congresses and he supervised about twenty five doctoral theses and several Masters.
Some distinctions of Prof. A. Boukhari are: Prize of the “Jean-Marie Lehn de Chimie” at the Laboratory of Applied Chemistry of Materials (2012) - Contribution to the Prize of the best research structure of the Mohammed V University inRabat (year 2014).*
Prof. A. Boukhari has also contributed to para-university activities as he is: - President of the Association of Materials Sciences and Construction Technologies (ASMATEC)(2016-2019), Vice president of the Moroccan Association of Crystallography (AMC)(2002-2004), Co-editor of the Proceedings of two "Moroccan Meetings on Solid State Chemistry" V and VI, in international journals (1992-1994).
After the initiation of his university studies at the Faculty of Science of Mohammed V University in Rabat, Lahcen El Ammari prepared his State Doctorate thesis at the Institute of Crystallography of the University of Karlsruhe in Germany and defended in 1989 at the Faculty of Sciences of the Mohammed V University of Rabat, under the subject: Structural study and ferroelectric properties orthophosphates. His teaching responsibilities can be summarized as Responsible for the module entitled "Application of X-ray and neutron diffraction to the study of crystal structures" in the Master’s program: * Fundamental Master of Chemistry, * Specialized master's degree: - Inorganic materials and mineral resources, - Characterization and valuation of materials based on rare earths, - Renewable Energies and Storage.He was also responsible for the module entitled: Crystallography and crystallochemistry (SMC5). He was a member of the development committees of License of Science in Material Chemistry (SMC), Master in Inorganic Materials and Mineral Resources, Master in Characterization and Valorization of Rare Earth Materials, Master in Renewable Energies and Storage and Master in Pharmaco-chemistry.
His scientific research and expertise responsibilities are:- Director of the Applied Materials Chemistry Laboratory from its creation until 2021, - President, jury member of several doctoral theses in Morocco and abroad, - Chairman and member of several recruitment commissions for teacher-researchers, - Expert and consultant in X-ray diffraction, - Reviewer of articles from several international specialized scientific journals.
The main research topics developed by Prof. L. El Ammari are:- Synthesis by solid route or in solution of new inorganic and hybrid compounds, Crystal growth by different methods: Flux, hydrothermal, fusion, - Characterization of new compounds based on phosphates, vanadates, arsenates and oxides by X-ray diffraction on powder and single crystal, Resolution and refinement of crystal structures from X-ray diffraction data, Investigation of the crystal structures of inorganic single crystals, organometallic and organic compounds. He has more than 300 publications in specialized international indexed journals, several communications in national and international congresses; he supervised about fifteen doctoral theses and several Masters. Some distinctions of Prof. L. El AMMARI are: Prize for the best scientific producer of the Mohammed V University in (year 2014), Contribution to the Prize of the best research structure of the Mohammed V University in Rabat (year 2014), Contribution to the “Jean-Marie Lehn de Chimie” prize at the Laboratory of Applied Chemistry of Materials.
Prof. L. El Ammari has also contributed to para-university activities as he is: President of the organization of the 4th International School of Crystallography, Member of the Competence Center of the National Network of Physico-Chemistry of Materials (REMAT) , Co-founder member of the Moroccan Meetings on Solid State Chemistry (REMCES), Co-founder member of the Moroccan Association of Crystallography and member of its executive board, Co-founder member of the Sciences Association of Construction Materials and Techniques (ASMATEC) and member of its executive board and Member of the national organizing committee of several international congresses.
